This set of East Asian fruit icons evokes fond memories of summers spent with my grandparents in Hong Kong. As a Chinese-American who identifies more with my American side, I have lost touch with much of my cultural heritage. Sharing fruits with my family in Asia—fruits deemed “exotic” and largely unknown to Western culture—allows me to reconnect with my background through even the simplest aspect of Asian culture: our fruit.
